Sarah
Sarah

I struggled painting beautiful Sarah as she sat resplendent in her gown on my sofa. Afterwards she fell asleep and I much prefer this charcoal study.

Bren
Bren

A4, 2017. Out for the count. Tendresse. The way his hair flopped over the edge of the cushion. The big, awkward, foreshortened hands I thought I wouldn't be able to draw but I did. The vain on his forehead. The sweet face, with cheek crushed against the cushion. Lovely Bren.

Reading Foucault. My flatmate at the time of drawing. Conté. 2015. This is so Nikita it boggles me. The ears. The way his lip comes forward. The polo neck. He defaced my drawing the next morning with a lovely note.
